Yesterday was another class at my LSS.  We used Sassafrass Lass (not sure of the name of the line).  We were also introduced to the We R Memory Makers Heart Attack Distressing Tool.  This tool is a sandpaper distresser and a blade distress tool in one.  It really worked great to distress the papers we were using without much effort.  We also used Circles cut from the paper to create our own embellishments.  By layering the papers and using different distressing techniques we were able to create an interesting layout with only a few embellishments.

Technique Savvy Class

I can't believe that I forgot to post these layouts from a class I took several weeks ago.  In this class we learned two new techniques.  The first was making rosette flowers as pictured in the first layout.  We cut a strip of paper 12" long and accordion folded it in 1/8" increments.  Then we took a circle of card stock and covered it in glue dots (sure wish we had the new Glubers to use).  Then we glued the ends of the folded cardstock together to form a circle and adhered the newly formed rosette to the cardstock circle.  We added a brad or bling to the center and Voila!  I love the look of these rosettes, but they sure were a pain to make.  I even tried using my Martha Stewart Scoring Board to make the folding easier, but I had a hard time keeping the finished rosettes from coming apart.  The gorgeous paper is from the Making Memories Paper Reverie Line.

The second technique we learned was how to highlight words in a passage to create your title.  In the layout below our teacher printed a saying onto cardstock and left spaces for a few key words she wanted to highlight.  She then used her Cricut and her Cursive 101 cartridge to cut these words out of black card stock.  Then we adhered these words to the saying and added Glossy Accents to highlight the words even more.  I can't remember the name of the paper line we used but I will post it as soon as I figure it out.

Latest & Greatest Class

This past Tuesday was my Latest & Greatest class at Memory Mania.  This class is meant to showcase the newest & hottest products on the market.  In the first layout we explored baker's twine.  It seems like every company out there has come out with some version of twine this season.  I'm not sure yet if it will be something I'll get hooked on, but then again I'm usually two or three trends behind anyway.  The paper is the Union Square line from My Minds Eye.  We used Glossy Accents to highlight the Eiffel Tower and the Camera  

Love Layout - Latest & Greatest Class

The next layout we did showcased Tim Holtz's new Distress Stain (we used Faded Jeans) and Kraft Resist Paper.  The paper is Le Cirque from Graphic 45.  We used the glossy accents to highlight the Le Cirque title as well as the "Of My Life" words and the photo corners.  We used the stain to color the kraft paper, title, and the mesh ribbon.  We also used a paint dabber to ink the edges of the layout and photo mats.

Pot of Gold

I made these little treat bags for my son's preschool class.  They aren't really celebrating St. Patrick's Day at school, but I thought it would be fun if each of the kids got a little "Pot of Gold" to take home.  The coins are chocolate that I found at a candy store in Baton Rouge (really cool place called Chocolage).  I used the rainbow from the Create A Critter cartridge and an SVG file for the Pot of Gold.  The stamp is from My Pink Stamper's Happiest Moments set.

Storm Trooper Birthday Cake

Here is a quick post of the birthday cake I made for my son's 4th birthday last week.  I used my cricut cake to make a Storm Trooper Cake.  This time is used Duff's fondant from Michael's and I must say it worked great and tasted pretty good too.  The black fondant was some fondarific that I had left over from making my daughter's cake.  The cake is 2 - 10 inch rounds made from Pilsbury Funfetti and the icing is Duff's Buttercream.

Circus Layout

I have been doing so well keeping up with my son's preschool scrapbook.  I was actually ahead by 2 layouts (Mardi Gras and Easter are both done) and then I found out about Circus Day.  So inorder to maintain my progress in this scrapbooking adventure, Dylan and I rushed out Monday afternoon in hopes that my LSS had the new Animal Crackers line by Imaginisce.  Guess what, they actually had it (it was so new it was on the new products wall).  I really don't think I have been that excited about a scrapbooking purchase in a long time (ok, that's a lie cuz I was really excited about the Bo Bunny Valentine Paper I bought 2 weeks ago).  Anyway, yesterday after we got home from Dylan's Circus at school I immediately went to work on creating the layout.  I love the way it turned out.  The cardstock is Bazzill and the patterned paper is Animal Crackers and of course it is all inked with Cat's Eye inks.  As usual, I will add embellishments after I add the photos.
